Tony nominated Nick Cordero was a Canadian actor, singer, songwriter and producer. He was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his role as Cheech in the 2014 Broadway musical Bullets Over Broadway and was twice nominated for Drama Desk Awards. His career also included television roles and film roles.
Nick's beginnings in writing and performing original music started when he formed Toronto based band Lovemethod with close friend and songwriting partner Ro Sardana. The two wrote, recorded produced and performed over 40 songs together between were signed to Maple Music (Universal).
Cordero appeared on Broadway in 2014 in the musical Bullets Over Broadway in the role of Cheech, for which he was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical.
He won the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical and a Theatre World Award for the role. In March 2016, he joined the Broadway production of Waitress, playing the role of Earl. He left Waitress to join the Broadway premiere of the musical A Bronx Tale, playing Sonny. For this role, Cordero was nominated for the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical in 2017. In 2017, he portrayed Victor Lugo in "Out of the Blue" and "Heavy Is the Head", the fourth and tenth episodes of the eighth season of the CBS police procedural drama Blue Bloods. He reprised the role in 2018 in "Your Six", the twentieth episode of the eighth season of the show.
In March 2020 Cordero moved to Los Angeles to work in a production of Rock of Ages. During this time Cordero and Sardana rekindled their songwriting and producing partnership with the intent of realizing their lifelong dream of starting a media production company to represent theirs and other artists opriginal music.
Tragically, Cordero was diagnosed with COVID-19 during the COVID-19 pandemic and passed away on July 5, 2020 at the young age of 41.
Today Ro Sardana and Ian Ward, a co Rock of Ages actor Ian Ward have kept Cordero's legacy, music and vision alive with the launch of Mutual Street Media Group, named after the street Sardana and Cordero met on while in University. MSMG's goal is to represent meaningful music and media projects that carry forth the spirit of Cordero and Sardana's music while discovering and representing new artists with the same spirit and essence.
